myEnergy
An app that shows tenants their electricity and water consumption. Almost in real time instead of once a year on the bill.

Making consumption visible.
NeoVac measures and bills energy and water consumption for more than 400,000 apartments in Switzerland. With myEnergy, residents see their electricity, energy and water consumption almost in real time on their phone, without asking the property management. Free for all of the roughly 400,000 apartments NeoVac looks after.
My role: I laid the foundation of the UX/UI design, from structure to imagery. Animations and the final UI were then created in the team.
The problem: the bill comes too late.
If you only see your consumption once a year on the bill, you can't change anything anymore. And every unclear point ends up as a call to the property management.
The task: show data from millions of measuring points so it's understood in a second.
Numbers you can feel.
NeoDuck, a little duck, greets users and shows electricity and water consumption in a simple overview. Comparisons with your own building and all of Switzerland give a feel for whether you use a lot or a little.
Where there's a shared solar installation, the app shows how much power it produces and what that means for your own carbon footprint, in trees instead of tonnes.

One app replaces 400,000 bills.
The meters report every fifteen minutes. The app turns that into trends over months and years, and bills arrive paperless. For property managers, myEnergy became a selling point; no other metering provider offered anything comparable at the time.
