rona:mobile
The digital delivery note as a companion for drivers in the waste management industry. Redesigned in a user-centred design process.

Goodbye, paper trail.
rona:systems builds IT solutions for the waste management and recycling industry. With rona:mobile, drivers have their jobs, delivery notes and routes on a tablet instead of on paper in the cab.
My role: concept and UX/UI design for the new rona:mobile. The complex requirements and workflows of an ageing app were shaped, in a user-centred design process, around the people who use the product every day. The rona team then built the app themselves and evolved the design over the years.
A workplace on wheels.
Drivers work in gloves, under time pressure, between customers, dispatch and traffic. Every change to a job, every waiting time and every signature has to be documented, without a phone call or a slip of paper.
The question behind it: how do many features become a tool that feels like a companion in a driver's day, not like office software?

Everything that counts on the road.
The digital delivery note is at the centre, in the concept back then and to this day: customers sign directly on the tablet and instantly get a copy by email. Weight, notes and photos are attached to the delivery note automatically.
- Jobs in real timeChanges from dispatch reach the driver instantly.
- NavigationStraight to the destination, with site information.
- Call functionCall the contact person right from the job.
- Container managementWhich container is where, on a map.
- Standard tasksRefuelling, yard work, repairs documented with one tap.
- Waiting times and empty runsReported straight to dispatch, for transparent billing.
This is rona:mobile today in version 4.0, evolved by the rona team:

A buddy in the cab.
Today the app is a kind of buddy for drivers, and everything is fully documented. rona:systems is now the market leader in IT solutions for the waste management industry, a nice example of what good product innovation can do.
